You can only change a username in the software if your users are not Windows Authenticated. If they are Windows Authenticated, then the account will be linked to an account in Active Directory and so you cannot just make a change to the user in FocalPoint in Dimensions. Instead your IT team will need to change the name in Active Directory itself and then this should update the software.
For non Windows Authenticated users however:
FocalPoint simply uses the Dimensions user records and therefore you will need to make the name change in Dimensions:
Log into Dimensions
Click on System
Click on User Records
Highlight the user whose name you want to change and click Edit
Change the username accordingly
Click Save to save the changes
Once the username has been changed in Dimensions, FocalPoint will automatically be updated to use the new name.
When logging into the FocalPoint website however, the name displayed in the top right corner is derived from the user’s Resource record, not their username. Therefore one final step is required:
Log into Dimensions
Click on Costing
Click on Resources
Identify the resource record used for this user and click Edit
Change the resource name accordingly
Click Save to save the changes
