Note. The following does not apply if you are a Hosted Customer. Whilst the privileges can be granted, you need to raise a case. You will be given a form to complete and this will then be passed to the Hosting Team apply (if approved).
In order to create user accounts or make changes to exist, the user logging into FocalPoint Administrator must be a member of one of the administrator-level roles on your SQL server itself. As a default, the system administrator (usually SA) and the MSTR user will have permission to create users, but no other user will (or can) be granted these permissions within the FocalPoint Administrator software.
β
To be able to create user accounts in FocalPoint Administrator, the user logging into the software will need to be a member of a security-level role on your SQL server itself. This should be raised with the person in charge of your SQL server, as these permissions have to be applied by an SQL administrator at an SQL level. The roles required are:
securityadmin at server level
db_accessadmin at database level
db_securityadmin at database level
These privileges need to be applied to the SQL login that is associated to your FocalPoint Administrator User.
If when you log into FocalPoint Administrator, the "Windows User" box is ticked, the name of the SQL server user will be the same as the user name you used to log into your PC with.
If the "Windows User" box is not ticked when you login, then the SQL server username will be your FocalPoint user name followed by 'A'. For example if your FocalPoint Administrator login is Fred, then your SQL user will be 'FredA'.
