Error - 'Execution Timeout Expired. The elapsed prior to completion of the operation or the server is not responding' when doing anything in FocalPoint

This error implies that the server is taking too long to complete the requested action and so FocalPoint has stopped trying. FocalPoint has a timeout setting and so will only attempt an action for a certain number of seconds so as not to crash out everyone else using the database.

If you have recently had any changes made to your system, these may have caused the issue and so will need to be rolled back. If there have been no changes, then it may just be that you have hit a certain number of transactions in the system and so actions are genuinely taking a bit longer to run and hitting the time limit.

The first action we would recommend is recycle the IIS application pool.

If recycling the application pool does not work, please ask your IT team to restart the web server so that we can rule out any issues on the server at all.

If restarting the server also makes no difference, please raise a new case online and reference the title of this article and please include details of when this started happening.
