Error: 'Oops, FocalPoint has encountered an error' when opening a specific Purchase Request

The most common cause is that one of the users involved in the Purchase Request has been removed from a FocalPoint Security Profile. When a user leaves the company, disable their account rather than removing them from Security Profiles — move them to a profile with no permissions instead. 📌 **Note:** If the **History** button cannot be seen at the top of the purchase transaction list, you may be using split line approval and will need support to identify the user causing the issue. Contact support for help. To resolve this error:

  1. In FocalPoint, open the affected Purchase Request.

  2. To find who approved the transaction, click **History** at the top of the purchase transaction list. Make a note of the users listed or take a screenshot. Each of these users must be in a FocalPoint Security Profile for the transaction to open.

  3. Open FocalPoint Administrator

  4. Click System Control, Security Profiles

  5. Select the particular security profile, and click Members

  6. Check the list shown on the right hand side of the profile for any of the approvers from the History of the transaction.

  7. If the user cannot be found in the right-hand list at all, the user account has likely been removed from FocalPoint entirely and will need to be recreated with the same user ID. Contact support and include details of the affected user.

  8. If they are present in this list without a Current Profile entry, this indicates that they are not in a security profile and therefore FocalPoint will show the above error when you try to open any purchase requests they have approved.

  9. Add the user back into the required security profile, possibly one without any permissions if the user has left the company.

  10. If the user has left the company, also disable the account. Click System Control, Users.
