Setup and import Credit Card Transactions using FocalPoint Administrator

Updated over 3 weeks ago

To start importing credit card transactions, the template will need to be set up, as this varies between credit companies. There are no default templates for this.
However, the user is able to setup and configure their own templates within FocalPoint Admin.

The Credit Card transactions will need to be exported first and opened up in excel, or whichever viewer it chooses, so the user can define how the template will need to be set up:

  1. Login to FocalPoint Administrator using an administrator account.

  2. Then go to the System Control tab.

  3. Click on the Utilities button.

  4. Select the Import File Templates.

  5. By default, a Barclay card transaction is set. This may need editing depending on how the output looks.

  6. When working with a new set, click Insert at the bottom

  7. This will bring up the inserting file template window.

  8. Give this template a name and description.

  9. There is only one type, which is 'import'.

The file format will entirely depend on what the export looks like, whether its Comma or Tab separated or Fixed Width.

There is also the option of which line to start at. Some companies put headers on their exports. If this is the case, the user may want to start on line 2.

Then, start adding the lines that match the file. This needs to be added in the order they are seen in the file (Their position can be moved using the 'up' and 'down').

  1. Clicking the Add button will bring up another window.

  2. From here, click on the 3 ellipses to bring up a selection window. This will display the Fields window.

  3. Here, start adding the columns that needed for the import that appear in the file.

Note: If the file contains lines that are not wanted on the import when adding a new line, the user can choose the tick box for 'Filler'. This column will then be ignored.

Now use the Validate Import button to check and ensure that the correct lines show in the correct columns.

  1. Import this via System Control.

  2. Click on the Utilities option.

  3. Select the Import Credit Card Transactions.

  4. Select the Import Type of From File Template, and select the template created

  5. Then click Import From File.

While this import is not completed as it is missing information, the user can start to see what it will import.
