Adding a resource code to a member record in FocalPoint Administrator to prevent the error 'User not configured as a costing resource' when accessing FocalPoint web

Updated over a month ago

All FocalPoint users require an assigned Costing Resource Code to be setup and linked to the member record in FocalPoint Administrator. If you try to log in without this configured, you see the error

'Error Logging On: User not configured as a costing resource'.

  1. Log into FocalPoint Administrator

  2. Browse to System Control, Users

  3. Locate the relevant user in the list and make a note of the profile they are in

  4. Now browse to System Control, Security Profiles

  5. Select the affected users profile and click Members

  6. Select the user in the list on the left hand side

  7. In the fields below, there is a field called "Resource Code" use the ’...’ button, to bring up a list of available resource codes

  8. If there is a suitable resource available for this user, double-click on it to select it

  9. Click OK to save all changes

  10. If you are unable to find a suitable resource code, you will need to create a new one in Dimensions

To create a new Resource code in Dimensions:

  1. Log into Dimensions

  2. Click on Costing, Resources

  3. Click Insert

  1. Enter all of the required information.

  2. Once happy, click Save

  3. Return to FocalPoint Administrator and follow the steps above to assign this resource code

  4. Once done the user will be able to log in

To create a new Resource code in Supply Chain:

  1. Go to System

  2. Click Personnel

  3. If the user already has a personnel record, proceed to step 4. If not, one can be added by clicking New Personnel, filling out the required details, clicking Save

  4. Select the Personnel code that you would like to associate the Resource with

  5. Click Create Resource

  6. Fill out the required details, then click Save and Close

In case of updating the resource code for existing users, all the transactions will be on his/her old resource code (at least for Timesheets. Expenses, Absences), so they won't be able to see those once you change the resource code.
