Error - "The password does not meet the criteria or policy in place" when a user tried to reset their password

This error message will be shown when:

  • The password does not contain enough characters

  • The password is not complex enough

  • The password does not contain the required characters

  • The password is a previously used password

  • The password contains disallowed words

All of the rules that apply to passwords will be shown on the change password screen - please read them thoroughly and ensure your new password conforms.

If you believe that you have met all of the rules and it will still not accept your password, please try changing your password to something completely different and very basic that you have never used anywhere before as a test - if this works, it is likely that the password you had chosen had broken a rule.

In the case that a totally new password has been used, please also try leaving the "Old Password" field completely blank as filling this in can sometimes prevent the password from being reset if the entered value does not match the system's value.
