User is receiving the message "Logon Failed" when trying to log in to FocalPoint

Updated over 3 weeks ago

This issue can be caused by a range of different things. Please work through the following list to try and resolve the problem:

  1. Make sure that the user exists in the FocalPoint database, is in a Security Profile and is enabled. You can do this in FocalPoint Administrator by browsing to System Control, Users and ensuring there is a tick in the "Enabled" box.

  2. Make sure that the user is logging in with the correct username.

  3. Make sure the user is using the correct web address and not an old one

  4. Ensure that the correct credentials are used when logging in to FocalPoint. If the credentials are automatically populated - please ensure that you try retyping the password in from scratch, in case it has changed.

  5. Try resetting your password, sometimes no matter how sure you are that it is correct, it is not!

  6. If you are Windows authenticated, please try clearing your browser cache and then logging in again, in case the browser is remembering an old password.

  7. If you are windows authenticated and the User Name and Password fields are greyed out, this could mean that your Windows User Name (which is pre-populated in the User Name field) does not match the User Name of the FocalPoint User record - this is likely if you have recently changed your name for example. To fix this, log into Dimensions and ensure your name is updated under System, Users. Then please ask your IT team to restart the IIS server.

  8. If you are hosted with Access, please ensure you are typing CLOUD\ in front of your user name.

If you have checked all of the above, please raise a new case and reference the title of this article.
