I need change my password, and our FocalPoint Web Site is not hosted by Access

Updated over a week ago

If your FocalPoint website is hosted by Access the URL will probably contain the string accessacloud.com.

If your FocalPoint website is not hosted by Access it can be configured either to use a user name & password to authenticate a user ,or the users windows login .

If you have problems logging into a non-hosted FocalPoint website , that uses the user windows login to authenticate the user., then try resetting the window password..

If you still have problems check that a FocalPoint user has been created for you

  1. Log into FocalPoint administrator

  2. Go to menu options System Control ,Security Profile

  3. Select any profile

  4. Click on Members

  5. If your login name does not exist in the right hand or left hand window, then follow the steps in t he Knowledge base article: FocalPoint: How to Create a User Record.

  6. If user exists in the right window but does not have a profile listed against the login. This mean you have a Dimensions user but not a FocalPoint user. then follow steps in the knowledge base article FocalPoint : I Get The Error "A User with User Id X already exists." or "A User with User Name X already exists" When Creating A User With The User Creation Wizard.

If your FocalPoint website uses a name & password to authenticate a user, and you FocalPoint website is not hosted by access., There are two ways to reset a users password :

  1. If the user still knows their current password they can log into FocalPoint, click on their name in the top right and select Change Password

  2. If the user does not know their current password, then this will need to be changed by an administrator in the FocalPoint Administrator.

If you have problem log into non hosted FocaPoint website that use a user windows login to authenticate a user.

To change the password in FocalPoint Administrator:

  1. Log into FocalPoint Administrator - making sure you are connecting to the right database

  2. Navigate to System Control, Security Profiles

  3. Highlight the relevant profile and click Members

  4. Highlight the relevant user in the list on the left

  5. Click on the Details tab and enter a new password in the New .Net Password field
