Restore a database from a backup

Note: Restoring a database will result in any data added to, or altered in the Dimensions or FocalPoint system to be lost. You would need to ensure that you have the information to add back after. The time gap between now and the back up point should be a factor but the ultimate decision to restore is the customers.

If you are hosted with Access, please raise a new case and reference the title of this article and please include details of the database that needs to be restored.

If you are not hosted with Access, then the restore will need to be carried out by your own IT team. It should only be performed by someone experienced with Microsoft SQL Server. It is advised to take a backup of the current database before restoring from a previous backup.


If you do not have anyone experienced enough to restore the database, then this will be need to be passed to our professional services team. To arrange this, please raise a new case and reference the title of this article and please include details of the database that needs to be restored.
