Custom fields on projects and how they are used

FocalPoint has the following custom fields that users can use to store information on projects:

  • SortKey

  • UserSort1

  • UserSort2

  • UserSort3

  • UserSort4

  • UserSort5

  • User Char 1

  • User Char 2

  • User Char 3

  • User Char 4

  • User Char 5

  • User Char 3

  • User Date 1

  • User Date 2

  • User Date 3

  • User Number 1

  • User Number 2

  • User Number 3

  • User Flag 1

  • User Flag 2

  • User Flag 3

  • Cherry Pick 1

  • Cherry Pick 2

  • Cherry Pick 3

  • Cherry Pick 4

This information is displayed on the sort key tab on the Job Costing and Project Commencement screens.

You can ensure all users within a profile can see sort key tab on job costing screen by following steps below:

  1. Log into FocalPoint Administrator.

  2. Go to Menu Option, System Control, Security Profile.

  3. Select the profile in question.

  4. Click on edit.

  5. Click on Project Forms Tab.

  6. Tick "Show Sort Key Tab" in the Project Costing and Project Commence Boxes.

To display and enable and edit the name of a particular sort key fields/custom field on the Job Costing Screen

  1. Log into FocalPoint Administrator.

  2. Go to menu option System Options, Project Management, Job Costing.

  3. At the top of the General Tab there is a scroll box that lists the fields that can be displayed.

  4. Scroll down until you see the Sort Key field.

  5. Click on the Sort Key and then you can edit the text.

  6. Tick both visible and enabled boxes.

To display and enable a particular sort key fields/custom field son the Project Commencement Screen

  1. Log into FocalPoint Administrator.

  2. Go to menu option System Options, Project Management, Project Commencement

  3. At the top of the General Tab there is a scroll box that lists the fields that can be displayed.

  4. Scroll down until you see the Sort Key field.

  5. Tick both visible and enabled boxes.

A user can rename a sort key with the following steps :

  1. Log into FocalPoint Administrator.

  2. Go to menu option, System Control, User Defined Label.

  3. Select the value Costing in the Label Type drop-down box.

  4. Change text in Label Text field.
