The User Creation Wizard in FocalPoint creates both the FocalPoint user and also the Dimensions or Supply Chain user - therefore if the Dimensions/Supply Chain user already exists, you cannot use the wizard to create the FocalPoint counterpart.
β
Instead, you simply have to move the user into a FocalPoint profile and then populate the fields as needed:
Login to FocalPoint Administrator
**you must log in with a System Administrator account (such as the SA)
Navigate to System Control, Security Profiles
Highlight the profile you want to put the user into and click Members
Locate the user in the list on the right-hand side of the screen (which will contain all existing Dimensions/Supply Chain users not currently set up in FocalPoint) and double-click on them
The user will now have moved into the list on the left-hand side of the screen, which is a list of the users in this profile
On the Links tab below, ensure the user has a Resource Code - this is compulsory*
Depending on how your users authenticate themselves when logging in to FocalPoint you may need to follow another step below.
If your FocalPoint users are Windows Authenticated when logging in to FocalPoint on the web, then skip these steps as they will not apply
If however your FocalPoint users are not Windows Authenticated when logging in to FocalPoint on the web (often referred to as .Net authentication) then you should follow these steps
Highlighting the user who is now on the list on the left-hand side (the Members list), click on Details tab
In the New .Net Password field enter a password for the user here
**this is then the password, that this user will use to login to FocalPoint (they can then change this once they have logged in)
Fill in any other fields that you use on the tabs below - Email Address on the Contact tab is recommended but everything else depends on your set up. All fields can be edited later
Click OK to save
*If there is no resource code available for step 6, you will have to set up a new Resource code in Dimensions or Supply Chain first. For instructions on how to do this, please see the second half of our article 'How do I add a resource code to a member record in FocalPoint Administrator'
